AGS HAD SUCCESSFULLY HANDLED FREIGHT-ONLY FLIGHT CARRYING CARGO IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT

The outbreak of the COVID 19 worldwide has led to airlines slashing flights schedules and grounding thousands of aircraft, as travel demand bottoms out and nations close borders in an attempt to control the pandemic.

In order to overcome the impact of the COVID 19 outbreak, Vietnam Airlines has started operating cargo-only flights by using their passenger aircrafts, especially in April 2020, they have implemented to not only load and carry cargo in aircraft compartment but also passenger cabin. In this exceptional time, besides to perform humanitarian mission as the flag carrier airlines of Viet Nam, the efforts to “overcome difficulties” by seeking the measures to address challenges from the crisis have shown Vietnam Airlines’ initiative to improve income, cut down expenses as well as maintain the role of trade connection.

Apart from Noi Bai International Airport and Tan Son Nhat International Airport, Vietnam Airlines has deployed to operate the freight-only flights carrying cargo in its belly and passenger cabin. As their ground handling partner at Cam Ranh International Airport, AGS had successfully handled this first flight in the evening of April 16th, 2020.

To witness firsthand whole operation to thoroughly understand all the difficulties and challenges are in the first time of providing the service; having to carry and put each bale of goods on the marked positions, calculating the aircraft tonnage balance, etc. All activities are required to meet the aviation safety and security standard. However, in spirit of solidarity, AGS had successfully served the first flight with all fervour and enthusiasm; unloading 2,106 kgs from the passenger cabin, completely loading 202 bale of goods equivalent 4,785 kgs into the passenger cabin with following the strict procedure; beside loading 7, 328 tons into aircraft compartment (HAN-CXR/VN7555/ETA: 17h57, CXR-HAN/VN7554/ETD: 20h15.
